Five for Friday!

Hellooooo Friday!

I can't beleive that I'm saying this...but next Friday is officially my last Friday of summer! I have been waiting and waiting for summer to be over! And now in the blink of an eye it's almost time to go back to school! It's funny how that always happens!

I've had a fun week and can't wait to tell you all about it! I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday.

I have been blog hoppin up a storm trying to reach 105! I'm not sure if I'm going to make it, but I have had a lot of fun regardless!

This is the most recent photo of my grammy and me...too bad she wasn't looking at the camera! Pardon my "hay" face.

My grandma, one of my favorite people...ever, is coming to visit for a week! She was supposed to be up to visit in May for my graduation, but she broke her foot two days before so she wasn't able to make it. :( I am so excited she will be able to make it this time!

My blog reached a huge milestone this week. If you follow me on Instagram, you've already seen this. If you don't follow me on IG (@mspaddy91), you should! ;) I made it to 50 followers! Woooo! I am at 74 now. Who will be number 75?!

Yes, another Bridesmaids reference, because Bridesmaids.

This may be a strange thing to list, but I only have one more month until I am officially insured! I haven't been to the dentist since I had braces on (a looooong time ago!) so I am ecstatic! Pain and agony, here I come!

That concludes my Five for Friday! In other news, today is your last chance to enter the Wingding Giveaway over at Mrs. Spangler in the Middle. If you would still like to enter, you have until midnight EST!

Thanks for stopping by!

Wordless Wednesday (July 30th)

I find myself sitting here...well...freaking out! Hopefully linking up with Ms. DeCarbo today for Wordless Wednesday will help!

It is July 30th...only one day left until August is here...and I feel like I haven't been able to prepare anything! I keep thinking about how my classroom will turn out and how much different having my own room will feel from student teaching.

Here is a photo of my classroom from waaaay back in May. Empty.

I have two questions today and would LOVE some advice!

1) How much different was your first year teaching from student teaching? 2) What is one thing you wish you would have done your first year that you didn't do?

On a quick side note, if you haven't heard, there is a great giveaway going on over at Mrs. Spangler in the Middle. There are some great prizes so head on over there!

Also, if you follow my TpT store by August 1st I will give you a set of my Doodle Frames for FREE! Check out my previous post for more info :)

Alright, I am off to go worry some more! Happy Wednesday!

Five for Friday (July 25th)

Haaaappy Friday! Today I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday  :)

I was so excited, like BEYOND excited, to get my diploma in the mail. I checked the mail every day in anticipation of seeing that Envelope from UNLV waiting for me. I finally received it and the excitement was short lived...

I have been having so much fun on instagram this week! I was never really into IG before so I am still trying to figure out how it works. These are some of my favorite posts!

I have been trying to eat healthier lately. And by healthier, I mean not fast food or processed garbage ;) Oatmeal has been one of my go-tos!

As you can see from my instagram photos, I have been Bloghoppin like crazy! If you don't know about the scavenger hunt, head on over to Bloghoppin and check it out! I'm planning a day to go down to the strip soon...I will be able to find so many of the list items down there!

Alicia, one of my friends from school coworkers, has got her blog up and running! She will be teaching 6th grade life science this fall and loves coffee and yoga. Head on over there and say hello :)

What are you up to this weekend? Hopefully something great!

Wordless Wednesday (July 23rd)

It's July 23rd, and that means only 3 more weeks (exactly) until I have my orientation for the district! I. Can. Not. WAIT!

Today I am linking up with the lovely Miss DeCarbo for Wordless Wednesday.

I have been wanting to be healthier for some time now. It's not about losing weight or anything like that. I just want to feel better and take better care of myself. I figure my last few weeks of summer are a great time to start!

To kick off my new "healthier" routine, I started Insanity yeasterday (will I ever feel like I'm NOT dying???) and prepped my breakfast for this morning...overnight oats!

Overnight oats with bananas and a dollop of peanut butter. I didn't like it as it was....so I added a heaping spoonful of Nutella. Problem solved ;)

Have you ever tried overnight oats? What are your favorite recipes/ingredients?

Happy Wednesday!

Five for Friday and A giveaway!

July 18th...already!

Time is moving quickly and I couldn't be any more excited about it! I have been in full planning mode trying to get things ready for next year. As you can imagine though, since I haven't had my own classroom yet, this is quite the challenging task. I really try focusing on planning but then end up with things like this:

Not exactly bad, I guess ;)

It's time for another addition of Five for Friday with Doodle Bugs Teaching.

(Almost a teacher...still)

 (#RealTeacher! WOOO!)

I am officially a teacher! The name badge means I am legit.

My twin has officially been offered a teaching job! Not only that, but she got a job at my schools' feeder school, which is less than 1 mile away. #Twinning

http://doodlebugsteaching.blogspot.com/

This guy here is one of my BEST friends and he came to visit this week! We met in high school and have been great friends ever since, even though he was the "baby" of the group. Being able to see him this week, and spending time with him, was more special than pretty much any other thing that has ever happened in my life. Curtis was born with Cystic Fibrosis(CF) and this past December he received a life saving double lung transplant.

He was always in poor health but in December he began to decline quickly. It was terrifying! He went in for an evaluation for donor lungs when doctors discovered a problem with his heart that needed to be fixed. Curtis steadily declined during his heart surgery, so instead of waking him after the procedure, the doctors kept him under and immediately placed him on the transplant list. He was able to get a new pair of lungs...that were a perfect match....in 4 days. Seriously.

Going from preparing yourself for one of your best friends possibly dying at 21 years old, to sharing all of these incredible life moments...well there really are no words. But a lot of smiles!

Myself, the twin, and Curtis immediately after an EPIC jam session to Thriftshop.

I am so against puppies in pet stores :( but I still like to play with them sometimes. Also Ferrets

Shaunna and Curtis at a friends birthday dinner. Happy burfday James!

Curtis learning how to drive a stick. He already kind of knows how, but he wants to get better so he can drive his friends Mustang!

I don't really have a 4 or 5 this week. Number three pretty much takes the cake!

Canned Curriculum - Wordless Wednesday (July 16th)

Happy Wednesday!

I have had one fun-packed week! I can't wait to tell all about it during Five for Friday! Today I will just keep it short by my standards for Wordless Wednesday.

The school I work at will be using Springboard throughout the 6th, 7th and 8th grade ela AND math departments. I know, I know...having a program like this in one subject isn't boring enough, let's throw it in math too! I used springboard last year, but since I was in an English class and not reading, my usage requirement was much smaller. I only used the book about once a week and was able to come up with my own lessons the rest of the time.

My question is, do any of you have experience with Springboard or any other "canned curriculum"? Do you have any advice or insights on how to make it a better learning experience for the kiddos?

Thanks for any help, I will need it!
Suzanna

P.S. I just made an Instagram account! I would love more people to follow :)

I just got my Instagram account for the blog up and running! I have a personal account that I made like a year ago, but I rarely use it. Hopefully I will get more use out of this one!
I will be completing the Blog Hoppin Scavenger hunt through Insta, so I will have a TON of photos from that. If you don't know about the scavenger hunt, head on over to Blog Hoppin and find out. Its not to late to join the fun!
If you have an Instagram, please go follow me so I can talk to more than 4 people. ;)  The more the merrier right?!

Five for Friday: A Brand New Blog Design and Sasquatch!?

I am so excited to be linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday today! Normally it's a stretch to come up with 5 not boring relavent topics each week. But seeing as I skipped last weeks link up and I have had some exciting stuff going on, this week it was hard to choose!

http://doodlebugsteaching.blogspot.com/

Those of you who have been by my little blog before (thank you for coming back!) can see that I have totally revamped everything! New template, new photo, new blog button (that also works)...new everything!

I am so excited that I now look much more like a "pro" blogger and a lot less like an "I haven't a clue" blogger. I purchased my template on Etsy from KreatedByKelsey. She was seriously so helpful and super quick to respond to my questions. When I ran into a problem while installing she offered to install the entire thing for free! I will definitely be a repeat customer, should I need any services in the future!

I created my new "About Me" image all by myself. (Patting myself on the back. Still.) I really wanted a new photo and my twin is always itching to use her fancy camera, so I quickly got ready and we ran down to the park. Literally ran. The sun was setting so we only had a few minutes left to get a decent photo. This is what we came up with.

My cousin, Steven, also came up with a variation of the photo, which is by far my favorite! Ha!

My twin and I met up with our kindergarten teacher for lunch this week! She contacted us out of the blue on Facebook, which was so random considering we have had no contact since 3rd grade!

 Please excuse our selfie...

The best part about our visit with Mrs. Tilley Tamara was the binder of class pictures that she brought! The twin and I were so excited to see it because we didn't have any pictures at all from kinder! When Mrs. Tilley Tamara found out, she had us go down to Office Depot so we could make copies! How sweet is that?!

I officially sold my first item on tpt! Woooo! I was so excited about it! :D
